In a step towards reducing emissions and making our planet a greener place, Iberia Airlines has signed a new fuel sales agreement with Gevo for the purchase of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Iberia Airlines plans to purchase million gallons per year of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) over five years from Gevo's future commercial operations.
The airline hopes to start using sustainable fuel in its aircraft from The company's goal is to achieve net zero carbon emissions by , with a % deploy Brazil Mobile Number List ment of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) by of SAF is one of the key opportunities for Iberia Airlines to achieve its ambitious climate change goals.
Iberia is addressing this problem on four different levels: the green transition of the aviation sector, a more sustainable travel experience for its customers, turning Iberia Airlines employees into ambassadors of its sustainability strategy and commitment to society.
Gevo continues to pursue its stated goal of producing and marketing one billion gallons of SAF by It has a business model designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero over the entire life cycle of each gallon of advanced renewable fuel ( including its SAF), which includes emissions resulting from the burning of fuel in engines to power transportation. The agreement with Iberia Airlines further increases Gevo's global impact by increasing its range of airline partners.
“SAF is the best solution to advance the decarbonization of the aviation sector, which will reduce emissions along with other technological solutions as they are developed,” commented Teresa Parejo, Director of Sustainability at Iberia, about this agreement. “This agreement with Gevo is part of our commitment to achieve net zero emissions by and also part of the investment that the entire aviation sector is making towards the green transition of the industry. “This is a global challenge that must be addressed globally and requires the greatest possible public-private collaboration.”
Gevo, Inc. is a renewable fuels technology and development company. The company focuses on the transformation of renewable energy into energy-dense liquid hydrocarbons that can be used as renewable fuels, such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The company operates in four segments: The Gevo segment, the agroenergy segment, the renewable natural gas segment and the Net-Zero segment.
The Gevo segment collaborates in all research and development activities related to the pursuit of isobutanol production, including the development of its biocatalysts and the production and sale of fuel for biojets. The Agri-Energy segment is dedicated to the operation of the company's facilities in Luverne and the production of isobutanol, ethanol and related products. The Renewable Natural Gas segment produces low-carbon methane from cow and pig manure for energy production. The Net-Zero segment is dedicated to the production of energy-dense liquid hydrocarbons using renewable energy and its technology.
