In the second and last hearing to analyze the increases in electricity rates, the transport companies requested this Monday an income readjustment of up to 255.7%, which they estimate would have an impact on the final rate of no more than 3.8% . In addition, they affirmed a monthly and automatic update and that there are no delays in payments made by the Wholesale Electricity Market Administration Company (Cammesa). These requests were made in the second public hearing convened by the National Energy Regulatory Entity (ENRE), as a prior step to the tariff adjustments to be made by the Ministry of Energy.
Now, the Government must define what the increase will be and from when it will be applied. Although the hearings have ended, it is still unclear when the Asia Mobile Number List decision will be made. Official sources indicated that they will communicate it "in the coming weeks." But everything indicates that regardless of whether the implementation is delayed, when the increase occurs it will be retroactive to February 1. Last Friday the first meeting took place in which the distribution companies, Edenor and Edesur, made their request for an increase. What they plan is an 86% increase in bills for 80% of users.
Thus, for 80% of users the rate would go to $7,619, while for the 10% with the highest consumption it would go to $33,771 and for the 10% with the highest consumption, $68,425. In the case of distribution, it represents approximately 25% of the final invoice amount, while transportation represents 1.5%. To these values we must now add the impact of the 258% increase requested by the distributors, which would impact the bill by 3.8%. If it were linear, electric service would go to $7,908.5 on average for most users. However, the hearings are not binding , which implies that the increases requested by distributors and transporters will not necessarily be validated.
